Kenya, PEPFAR Strengthen Collaboration on HIV and TB Response Ahead of COP25
Nairobi, , 2025 — The Principal Secretary for Medical Services, Dr. Ouma Oluga, met with a PEPFAR/USG delegation to review progress and outline Kenya’s strategic direction in the HIV and TB response ahead of COP25.
Dr. Oluga emphasized Kenya’s shift towards integrating HIV and TB programs into primary health care, prioritizing prevention for adolescent girls, young women, and high-risk groups, and preparing for the 2026 rollout of LENPrEP (long-acting PrEP). He noted that epidemic control means sustainable containment within integrated systems, not parallel donor-driven programs.
The meeting was attended by USG representatives Brian Reittman, Julia Martin, Blair Dally, Dr. Desmond Williams, and Jennifer Galbraith; from the Council of Governors, Khatra Ali, Dr. Hillary Kagwa, and Linet Kerubo; and from NASCOP, Dr. Newton Omale.
