Hon. Aden duale flags off 2,000 cold chain equipment to strengthen kenya’s immunization services

Nairobi, Kenya - 14th May 2025 - Health Cabinet Secretary, Hon Aden Duale today flagged off 2,000 Cold Chain Equipment (CCE) units at Afya House, Nairobi, marking a major boost to Kenya’s immunization infrastructure. The equipment, donated by UNICEF, will be distributed across all 47 counties to ensure vaccines remain effective and are safely delivered, especially in hard-to-reach areas.

Speaking during the event, Hon. Duale emphasized that the initiative is a key step towards strengthening Primary Health Care, a critical pillar in the country’s Universal Health Coverage (UHC) agenda. Themed “Strengthening Immunization Infrastructure for a Healthier Nation,” the event showcased the Government’s commitment to enhancing vaccine access and equity.

In addition, the Cabinet Secretary launched Kenya’s Integrated Immunization Data Repository and Dashboard Portal (KeNIVP)—an innovative digital platform designed to provide real-time vaccine and immunization data for improved planning and decision-making.

Hon. Duale was joined by UNICEF Representative, Mr. Mahboob A. Bajwa, WHO Representative, Dr. Abdourahmane Diallo, Principal Secretaries Dr. Ouma Oluga (Medical Services) and Ms. Mary Muthoni (Public Health), Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, and other senior Ministry officials.
