Health CS Reaffirms Government’s Commitment to Restoring Health and Dignity in Thange

𝐍𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐢, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 - 𝟑𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐮𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 - Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has  reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring the health and dignity of residents affected by the Kenya Pipeline oil spillage into River Thange in Makueni County.

Appearing before the Senate Standing Committee on Energy, the CS addressed the status of implementation of Senate resolutions on the matter. He reiterated the Ministry’s continued partnership with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a sustainable resolution that protects the public from long-term health and livelihood impacts.

Chaired by Siaya County Senator Hon. Oburu Odinga, the session followed a joint site visit by the Ministry and the Committee from 1st to , conducted to assess the situation on the ground and review progress on the agreed recommendations. The Ministry’s delegation comprised public health officers, port health experts, environmental health specialists, and legal and administrative staff.

CS Duale was accompanied by Principal Secretary for Public Health and Professional Standards, Ms. Mary Muthoni, Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, and other senior Ministry officials.
