DG Health Dr. Amoth Urges Fair and Transparent Health Benefits Reforms
The Director-General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, has called for fairness, transparency, and sustainability in Kenya’s health financing reforms, urging the Health Benefits, Tariffs and Advisory Panel to design systems that protect Kenyans from both disease and poverty.
Addressing the panel during a training by the NICE team from the UK National Health Service (NHS), Dr. Amoth said defining benefits and setting tariffs is central to the success of Universal Health Coverage (UHC) under the government’s reform agenda.
“What you are learning is at the heart of our health reforms: defining benefits, setting tariffs, and ensuring that every Kenyan can access healthcare without fear of financial ruin,” he said.
He emphasized that the benefits package and tariffs being developed will directly shape the future of healthcare in the country by making access affordable, equitable, and sustainable.
