CS Health Strengthens Collaboration with SUPKEM to Enhance Access to Quality Healthcare

The Cabinet Secretary for Health, Hon. Aden Duale,Β Β held a consultative meeting with a delegation from the Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) led by Hassan Ole Naado, to strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at enhancing access to quality healthcare under the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) framework.

SUPKEM, which runs 20 hospitals, 12 health centres, and 32 dispensaries across the country, expressed commitment to expanding collaboration with the Ministry of Health in delivering maternal and mental health services to marginalised communities.

Acknowledging the urgent need to address maternal mortality, Hon. Duale called on SUPKEM to engage with other Muslim professional organisations anchored in trust and integrity, to support the provision of equitable and effective healthcare at the grassroots level.

The Cabinet Secretary also appealed to the Council to mobilise community members for registration under the Social Health Authority (SHA) to accelerate the rollout of the Taifa Care model.

In addition, Hon. Duale updated the delegation on the Ministry’s efforts to strengthen digital health governance, highlighting ongoing actions to eliminate unqualified medical practitioners. He urged SUPKEM to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements for accreditation and facility upgrades.

The meeting was attended by the Director General for Health, Dr. Patrick Amoth, and the Director of Primary Health Care, Dr. Salim Hussein.
