Aden Duale, together with Governor H.E. Jonathan Bii,ย ย co-chaired a strategic meeting with representatives from faith-based, private, and public health facilities to strengthen the countyโs healthcare delivery systems.
The CS reaffirmed governmentโs commitment to clear KSh 5.3 billion in pending bills owed to health facilities under the defunct NHIF within the next two months. These arrears, incurred for services already provided, are currently being verified by an independent team outside the Ministry of Health to guarantee accountability and accuracy.
Hon. Duale called on health sector leaders to uphold transparency, accountability, and integrity in their operations to protect public resources. Under the Digital Health Transformation, he announced that no claim will be processed away from the facility, insisting that all transactions must be completed directly at the source.
The CS also highlighted President William Rutoโs directive to support 1.5 million indigent Kenyans across all 47 counties, with the government set to cover their contributions to the Social Health Authority (SHA) from next month. Governors and MPs will additionally support another one million people to broaden universal access to care.
On SHA, Hon. Duale acknowledged transitional challenges raised during the meeting but assured stakeholders that the Ministry is working to fast-track solutions. He further urged all facilities to adhere to regulatory standards to safeguard patient safety and dignity.
He reassured participants that regulatory bodies will continue to conduct inspections and take firm action against non-compliant facilities and unqualified practitioners. He added that the Ministry will continue rolling out the digital superhighway to improve efficiency and strengthen service delivery nationwide.
